GROOG

Dec 18 2025

The year is 42,016 BC.

Zonk the caveman has just invented the best thing since fire: the Square wheel! It is truly revolutionary. It will allow for the first form of transportation. Zonk only sees one problem, Square wheels are bumpy and clumsy. Zonk doesn't like this, but tries his best to ignore it.

One day Zonk realizes, “With lot money...create special path...call it Square road...work very good with Square...make lot of monies selling Square!”

So Zonk gets his caveman friends to rally together, and soon they all start raving and bragging about their Square. They pitch together their money and start working on a vast Square Road network that reaches to anywhere one would want to go. For years they work endlessly, and eventually they finish the Square roads.

The Square world is beautiful. Cavemen are flourishing and nearby tribes are now exchanging goods for the first time. Many find employment maintaining the Square roads. Zonk starts a new chant, “Square is All You Need! Square is All You Need!”

But one day Groog, a very special caveman, stumbles upon a very weird shape on the ground. Groog likes the way the shape looks. Friendly. Cute. Natural.

Groog names it the Circle.

Groog decides to tell people about it, but people still argue in favor of Squares. Squares have worked well! Why would you need these Circles if Squares do everything you need? Squares are easier to make, they scale better to mass production! "More Squares more Monies!!!"

In that moment, the Square people are right. The Square wheel, with the past years of perfection, do work better than the newly discovered Circles. So the Squares go home, rich and happy with their Squares.

But Groog still believes in the Circle despite its constant rejection. The following months Groog decidicates himself to perfecting the Circle. Every day he walks up to top of the highest hill, and lets his Circle free. It always flops over. No better than a Square.

But Groog, a very special caveman indeed, keeps working on the Circle. One day Groog takes his newest Circle to the top of the hill. He drops it, hoping for a new result. Amazed, he watches as the Circle zips down the hill, gaining stability, gaining speed, more speed, and Wow! The Circle picked enough speed to blast off into outer space, living the rest of its Circle life amongst the stars.
